Kevin LeValley Named Damon’s Bison Athlete of the Week
Bucknell junior wrestler Kevin LeValley earned his second career Damon’s Bison Athlete of the Week honor following his 2-1 individual performance last week, which featured a victory over a top-10 opponent and a near-upset of No. 1 Brent Metcalf of No. 1 Iowa.
Bucknell Wrestling Splits Duals with No. 1 Iowa, Rutgers at Sojka Pavilion
Bucknell’s Sojka Pavilion has hosted 172 basketball games since it opened nearly seven years ago. However, Friday evening, wrestling took center stage as the Bison hosted No. 1 Iowa and Rutgers in front of a record 2,127 fans. Bucknell dropped a 29-7 decision to the 22-time national champion Hawkeyes, but bounced back with a 26-12 victory over EIWA foe Rutgers.

Three of Bucknell’s four ranked wrestlers posted victories to help the Bison to a 25-6 victory over EIWA foe Army Tuesday night at Gillis Fieldhouse. The Bison won eight of the 10 bouts as they defeated the Black Knights for the first time in nine all-time meetings.
Bucknell’s Andy Rendos Drops NWCA All-Star Classic Match, Bison Wrestling Travels to Army Tuesday
Three-time NCAA qualifier and 2009 All-American Andy Rendos, who is ranked sixth nationally in the latest Intermat poll, represented Bucknell at the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) All-Star Classic in Fullerton, Calif., on Sunday. The senior dropped an 11-2 major decision to Iowa State’s Jonathan Reader.

Four Individual Winners Highlight Bucknell Wrestling’s Third-Place Finish at Navy Classic
Bucknell senior wrestler David Marble won the 133-pound weight class at Navy Classic for the third consecutive year on Saturday. He was one of four Bison to post titles en route to a third-place overall team finish. Bucknell finished with 120.5 points, behind only host Navy (137) and Virginia Tech (126.5).
Bucknell Wrestling Opens Season with 1-2 Record at ACC Challenge
The Bucknell wrestling team opened its 2009-10 season Sunday afternoon at the ACC Challenge and had three very close matches and came away with a 1-2 record. The Bison defeated host North Carolina 19-14 after falling to No. 20 Virginia (20-13) and Virginia Tech (19-17) earlier in the day.

Less than two weeks after its intrasquad match, the Bucknell wrestling team will officially open its 2009-10 campaign this Sunday, Nov. 15, at the ACC Challenge in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Bison will be one of six teams at the fourth annual event and will face a trio of ACC squads, including host North Carolina, Virginia and Virginia Tech. Competition on Sunday begins at 12 p.m. Gardner-Webb and American round out the field.
Bucknell Wrestling Kicks Off Season with Intrasquad Match
The Bucknell wrestling team held its annual intrasquad match Tuesday night in Davis Gym and the two evenly matched teams split 10 individual matches, but a pin by Shane Riccio and a technical fall by Andy Rendos proved to be the difference as the Blue squad defeated the Orange, 21-17.

Bucknell Wrestling Listed Third in EIWA Preseason Rankings, Intrasquad Match Slated for Tuesday
The Bucknell wrestling team is coming off its best-ever finish at the EIWA Championships and is expected to continue its upward trend in 2009-10. The Bison tied Penn for third place at last year’s conference championships and are predicted to finish alone in third this year, according to the EIWA Preseason Rankings, released this past weekend be the conference.
