Bucknell Wrestling Announces 2010-11 Schedule, Bison to Host EIWA Championships in March

Last November, Bucknell and Sojka Pavilion hosted eventual national champion Iowa, the top wrestling program in the country. This coming March, Sojka Pavilion will once again serve as the backdrop to high-profile wrestling when it is the site of the 107th EIWA Championships, which will take place March 5-6. It is the first time Bucknell will host the prestigious event.

  • Bucknell Wrestling’s Kevin LeValley Finishes First at University World Team Trials

    Bucknell All-American wrestler Kevin LeValley claimed the 66-kilogram title at the Fila University World Team Trials on Friday night in his home state, earning him a spot in October’s University World Games in Torino, Italy.

  • Bucknell Wrestling Announces Talented Recruiting Class

    With its first senior class since the reinstatement of the program graduating later this month, Bucknell head wrestling coach Dan Wirnsberger has inked a recruiting class of eight student-athletes who will try to help offset the loss of four-year starters David Marble, Andy Rendos and Shane Riccio. The class includes wrestlers from five different states, including three from Pennsylvania.

    LEWISBURG, Pa. - Nineteen outstanding Bucknell senior student-athletes were presented awards at the 49th Annual Department of Athletics & Recreation Senior Recognition Dinner, held Tuesday evening in the Terrace Room on campus. The outstanding careers of some 138 senior athletes were honored at the dinner, and Patriot League champion swimmer Courtney Warren (Montour Falls, N.Y./Watkins Glen) and two-time All-America wrestler Andy Rendos (Brockway, Pa./Brockway Area) walked off with the evening’s top honor, the Christy Mathewson Award, which goes to the outstanding male and female senior athletes.

    Bucknell Wrestling Announces Team Awards at Season-Ending Banquet

    The Bucknell wrestling program held its end-of-season banquet on campus inside Hunt Hall this past Saturday evening and head coach Dan Wirnsberger and his coaching staff recognized this year’s team award winners and celebrated a successful season that concluded with two All-Americans and a 27th-place showing at the NCAA Championships. The two All-Americans – senior Andy Rendos and junior Kevin LeValley – shared the prestigious William A. Graham IV Most Outstanding Wrestler Award, given annually to the Bison grapplers who perform best at the NCAA Championships.

  • Andy Rendos and Kevin LeValley Named Damon’s Bison Co-Athletes of the Week

    Bucknell wrestling All-Americans Kevin LeValley and Andy Rendos were named Damon’s Bison Co-Athletes of the Week on Monday, two days after they became the first pair of Bison to earn All-America honors in the same season. Rendos picked up his second consecutive All-America certificate after a sixth-place finish in the 165-pound bracket, while LeValley claimed All-America honors for the first time after a seventh-place showing in the 149-pound bracket.

    For the first time in school history, Bucknell has two wrestling All-Americans in the same year. Senior Andy Rendos and junior Kevin LeValley both concluded their NCAA runs Saturday and finished in the top-seven of their brackets. Rendos earned his second consecutive All-America honor with a sixth-place finish at 165, while LeValley grabbed his first All-America citation with a seventh-place showing at 149.

    Bucknell wrestlers Andy Rendos and Kevin LeValley made history on Friday at the NCAA Wrestling Championships. Both veterans clinched top-eight showings as they made the way through the consolation brackets, meaning two Bison will be All-Americans in the same year for the first time in program history.

  • Rendos Advances to Quarterfinals of NCAA Wrestling Championships, Three Bison Still Alive After Day One

    Aiming for his second consecutive All-America honor, Bucknell’s Andy Rendos reached another milestone Thursday on the first day of the NCAA Wrestling Championships at the Qwest Center. Thanks to a 3-0 record, the senior broke the program record for career wins and is now 119-29 in his four-year career. Additionally, he advanced to the quarterfinals of the 165-pound bracket, placing him one win shy of becoming the second two-time All-American in school history.

  • Bucknell Wrestlers Set for NCAA Championships in Omaha

    This year’s NCAA Championships will take place March 18-20 at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb. Bucknell will bring four qualifiers to the event, giving it 16 over the last four years. The top eight finishers in each weight class earn All-America honors. Last year, current senior Andy Rendos became the first Bison to be named All-America since 1995. Rendos (165 pounds) and Kevin LeValley (149 pounds) are both seeded ninth in their weight classes.
